Alumni

Here's my first edit of my short animation for the alumni cancer research fund. hopefully its pretty clear and simple. Would appreciate feedback.

Cell Visualisation

Cells

Been trying to look at creating the cells for my animation, first a healthy blood cell and then an unhealthy cancer cell, its a bit extreme a hulkesk the cancer cell, so i may tone it down a bit, but here an initial render.

Blood cell simulation

This is animated clip I found of a blood cell simulation, followed from a Maya tutorial, I really like how it looks  and I think this is the sort of thing I would like to attempt doing in my animation for the alumni.

Microscope

So decided to completely change my idea for the simulated client project and look at making a small advert for donations for the cancer research department that the alumni association gives too.
Here's the microscope that will be in the animation.

Stickman Concept for Alumni

So I've created this very simple stickman, hopefully have it moving by tomorrow so i can get down with starting to make this small advert for the simulated client project.

Research Project

Ok so this is just a start, my ideas are flooding through on this project and im finding it a bit hard to work out exactly what i want to talk about, but here goes....



For my research project I would like to look into the implications of learning and teaching with the increase in new media.

I want to look at how media such an animation and visualisation is becoming much more widely used when teaching and learning in all different areas from schools to businesses.
I also want to look at possible problems arising with this, such as screens become a too bigger a part in our lives, slowly cutting off face to face connection.


I do believe that the increase in use of this media has great benefits, for example helping to explain third world problems on an international level can become much easier.
I believe with the increase in visualisation we have a better chance of planning for the future and more eco sustainable environments. Ferrari recently released a competition for 3d artists at universities to visualise a concept for an eco-friendly car of the future.
Buildings can now be visualised to a much higher degree and architects can have a bigger idea of what they are making before they start. Like I said though I also want to look at the issues that surround this, for example does this mean that the growth of cities is going rise too rapidly or will we find that it helps us to make a better environment

Alumni Project

I have decided to make my animation for the alumni association on the support of academic achievement and excellence through new scholarships, bursaries and awards.
My idea is to create one very simple character which will represent students who need this funding from the alumni. The animation will start out with the character doing various university courses or scholarship funded  courses, showing the sort of excellence the alumni talks about, such as rowing, studying, it research.  then there will be more characters talking to each other and slowly the camera will move backwards and upwards, panning out over more and more of the characters appearing, some turning red which highlights the people who need the funding, as the camera pans back more you see the characters from a birds eye view and the shape they make forms the pattern of great Britain, which will eventually turn into a re-designed Alumni logo . What I want to get across towards the end is the idea of having the alumni as a great connection to get people who deserve it, to university. The idea that its not just about giving the money it’s about being connected and building a better future for university students.

This is the sort of simple character I plan to model and use to represent the student who need Alumni funding.
